Bonds & Treasuries.

Understand the payment schedule behind the percentage.

Coupon rate, current yield, and yield to maturity answer different questions. This collection starts with those definitions and then examines Treasury bills alongside CDs. Follow the scheduled cash flows, distinguish promised payments from realized returns, and consider an early sale separately from holding to maturity. The comparisons do not assume that government securities, bank deposits, or corporate bonds have identical protection or access rules. Use the worked examples to identify the assumptions in a quote before evaluating a real instrument and its issuer. Keep the comparison checklist nearby as you read.
